What Causes Partisanship?

Some folks think that Obama is the greatest thing since sliced bread.  Others ask, "What was the greatest thing before sliced bread?"  Whichever group you find yourself in, a new report by the Pew Research Center tells the informed observer that Barack H. Obama has the "most polarized early job approval rating of any president in the past four decades."  More than even George W. Bush, who was widely accused by Democrats of being a totally partisan president, totally divisive.

You can read the statistics for yourself; I must say I've often thought it interesting that when George W. Bush was in office, the Democrats were continually calling for "bipartisan" approaches to issues of national import.  Since the recent election and installation of the current occupant of the Oval Office, I've seen no such calls reported in the major media outlets.  What's up with that?
